 "neXt" was created for Sound Scene 2021 Global, an annual festival celebrating all things sonic.

Sound Scene is an annual free and interactive audio arts festival organized by the DC Listening Lounge, an audio collective of Washington, DC-based sound artists and enthusiasts.

Since 2007, this all-ages public festival celebrates the creativity of artists from Washington, DC and around the world. Sound Scene celebrates sound through audio art installations; live performances of dance, music, and spoken word; and small group workshops that explore acoustics, beat-making, sound production, sonic meditation, group improvisation, and more. Sound Scene typically features the combined talents of more than 50 artists and partners such as the DC Public Library’s Center for Accessibility, the Kennedy Center / National Symphony Orchestra, the PRX Podcast Garage, WPFW, and Rhizome DC.

Due to Covid-19, Sound Scene 2021 had both an in person and an online Global presence, allowing for virtual performance and attendance.
